Language we mirror — not badges we wear
Serious tourism and corporate partners already speak in standards. We mirror that language so conversations stay honest. We do not issue certificates, and listing on 4 Good Clean Fun does not mean a business or destination is “certified through us.”
GSTC — tourism’s four pillars
The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) Standards organize sustainable tourism around:
- Sustainable management
- Socioeconomic impacts
- Cultural impacts
- Environmental impacts
That’s the default frame behind our Sustainability section: we own the environmental practice in product terms, treat culture as the reason people go, and keep community and how we work as honest bridges.
UN Sustainable Development Goals — soft alignment only
We may reference SDGs 11 (sustainable cities), 12 (responsible consumption), and 13 (climate action) as alignment language — not as proof that 4GCF “delivers” those goals.
Skål — peer recognition we respect
Skål International runs Sustainable Tourism Awards and a professional network that cares about practice, not slogans. We respect that culture. We may one day enter in categories such as Tour Operators or Communication. We do not run Skål’s program, and we don’t compete with it.
One footnote on “four pillars”
Some destination and city policies treat culture as a fourth pillar of sustainable development (alongside environment, social, and economic). Tourism standards such as GSTC already include cultural impacts beside environment, community, and management. We don’t host a debate on-site — we use the frame our audience already knows.
